No matter the age of your truck or trailer, you want to preserve your investment. There are two major ways to protect the bed of your truck: bed liners that are either drop-in or sprayed on. At Layton Car Care, we offer top-quality spray bed liners.

What is a Spray Bed Liner?
Spray bed liners are aerosolized protective sealants that cover metal surfaces to prolong their lifespan. They are usually made of a polyurethane compound and installed in a paint booth specific to the purpose using a spray gun. There are several different manufacturers; at Layton Car Care, we apply Speedliner.
The polyurethane coating is not just good for spray-on truck bed liners. It is much more versatile than that. Just about anything that’s metal can receive the treatment as long as the surface is properly prepared. This means it can be used on bumpers, boats, and bodywork as long as the steps below are followed:
Prep: The very first step is to mask up the rest of the vehicle to protect it. The spray is not picky in its adherence, so anything that you don’t intend to have coated in it should be thoroughly covered. Once that is done, the surface being treated is sanded to facilitate better bonding.
Clean: After sanding down the surface, one of our trained professionals applies a solvent to clean the area being sprayed. This strips it of debris, wax, or grease and is essential to make sure that the treatment is most efficient.
Prime: After the bed is cleaned, it must be primed for maximum adhesion. Speedliner recommends Primer450.
Spray: At last the Speedliner coating can be applied. Our team is meticulous in making sure the coating is even.
Cure: The size of the bed and atmospheric conditions determine how long the liner needs to cure. One or two days is sure to do the trick, but our customers can have their truck back in as little as a few hours with the hot spray bed liners.
One thing to keep in mind is that the process is, for all intents and purposes, permanent. A spray bed liner cannot be removed, and the process necessarily destroys the manufacturer’s paint underneath. While we can’t overstate the value of spray bed liner, be certain of your decision before you begin the process.
Benefits of a Spray Bed Liner
The overarching purpose of a spray bed liner is to protect your truck bed, boat, or trailer from corrosion. While it certainly does so, there are a host of other benefits that come along for the ride. Speedliner coatings offer UV protection and create a non-slip surface so your belongings don’t shift around as much in the bed of your truck. Spray bed liners are also stain-resistant and absorb sounds and impact for a smoother ride. They prevent damage from leaks and rust to improve the overall quality of your property.
If your truck suffers from cosmetic issues like blisters or peeling, a spray bed liner will seal over the damage to preserve the frame from further damage. The coating is durable and hardy, and the striking perpetually new-looking coating lends a fresh look to any vehicle.

Speedliner
In their own words, Speedliner is the most durable spray-in bed liner in the world. We tend to agree, with independent lab tests indicating that the tensile strength of Speedliner is up to 80% stronger than the spray bed liners of their competitors. A small amount of Speedliner goes a long way, and depending on the treatment process, the normal cure period may be reduced to mere hours.
Speedliner also comes in a variety of pigments: shades of blue, brown, green, tan, black, and white just to name a few. Too much pigmentation can reduce the durability of the liner, but Speedliner pigments come in allocated 4-fluid oz tubes to avoid this problem.
Comparing Spray Bed Liners to Drop-in
Again, a spray bed liner is there to stay, so if you are not looking for something permanent, a drop-in liner might be right for you. A spray bed liner is a better choice if you are looking for a lasting solution that won’t put attachment holes in your truck or accidentally scratch the paint. Spray-in liners mold to your truck bed so you maximize your cargo space and don’t have to stress about finding the right model to fit. They are easy to clean and have a more streamlined look, and they won’t warp or crack or rattle around as you drive.
